Sunny Ridge - 6PM-8:30PM - Cowboy Movie Night
About this event
December 3rd's Movie: Christmas Vacation (1989)

Greetings Buckaroos and Buckarettes,
The sun is settling slowly in the west as another chilly winter day comes to an end on the ranch. The bunkhouse is occupied by pensive and reflective ranch hands all quietly contemplating what to get their saddle partners for Christmas. A working cowboy's wage of $26.00 a month doesn't leave much for Christmas shopping. Small, thoughtful gifts mean a lot to a cowboy. Things like a bag of tobaco and rolling papers, a pair of wool socks, maybe two new cotton neckerchiefs, maybe a watch fob. It's a time of mixed feelings. Looking back on the year and its many blessings and to a future that can only be speculated. In the back of each cowboy's mind is the realization that some will be leaving the ranch after New Year's. There is not much work on the ranch until spring so many will depart. Some will go into town and find work at the livery, chop fire wood for a business, swamp up at the local eatery or maybe deal faro at the Broken Spur. Some will ride off and not be seen again.
So as the sun sets on the ranch, so it sets on Cowboy Movie Night. The Sweetwater Regulators will no longer be showing cowboy movies at the Edenbrook basement bijou theater. The genre has run its course in town and the move is toward more varied and mainstream movies that will appeal more to the varied audience. The activity will now be called simply, "Movie Night." Movies will still be shown on the first Wednesday of the month. Show time will remain 6 PM. The abundant snacks and beverages will still be offered for free.
We will close out the year with a movie that will hopefully, bring out joy and glad tidings or atleast a few laughs and put everyone in the spirit of Christmas. The movie showing tomorrow evening will be the wonderful National Lampoon "Christmas Vacation." It stars Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid, Dianna Ladd, Doris Roberts, and Julie Louis Dreyfus. Released in 1989. Running time is 97 minutes. We hope you will join us as we end the year on a high and humorous note.
